The Edmonton Home and Garden Show opens at the Edmonton Expo Centre at 4 pm, Thursday, March 24th and runs till 5 pm, Sunday, March 27. This year’s show theme is Restore, Refresh and Renew and with more than 600 exhibitors, experts and celebrities, attendees can expect to find new ideas, learn some tips to make their home and garden projects better and be inspired by what’s fashionable now.
Take time to see the celebrities on stage
The Edmonton Home and Garden Show website recommends that those planning to attend should allow between two and four hours for making the rounds to exhibitors’ booths and show stages. Celebrities from HGTV will take to the State Farm Main Stage to inspire with advice and insight on a wide range of home projects. Shows start on the hour. Check the website for topics and show times.
Bring gardening gloves and learn gardening tips from the experts
The Greenland Garden Stage, presented by Alberta Gardener magazine, is the place for gardeners and would-be gardeners. Attendees are encouraged to bring their gardening gloves, roll up their sleeves and take part in the interactive seminars. Seminar topics include growing your own food, floral design, landscaping tips and what’s new in the garden. Seminars are hourly. See the show’s website for the complete seminar schedule.
Purchase tickets online and save
Those planning to attend the Edmonton Home and Garden Show can buy tickets online and save $3. The show’s organizers expect more than 50 000 people to attend this year’s show, so purchasing tickets online is probably not a bad idea as it may prevent having to stand in line at the door for tickets.
Many returning exhibitors
Exhibitors will be offering help and products in the following categories: gardening and landscaping, decorating and design, and remodelling and renovating. Many exhibitors, like Henry Kolasa of Home Style Wrought Iron Gallery have been to the Edmonton Home and Garden Show in previous years. “I started attending in 2006,” says Kolasa, “So this will be my sixth year.”
For Kolasa and many other exhibitors, the show begins almost a whole week early as he and his staff move large wrought iron features like ornate vehicular gates, whole sections of railings and patio furniture into booth #621 at the Edmonton Expo Centre. But for him, the show is worth the effort. Kolasa says he always looks forward to meeting visitors at his booth and showing them what’s available for their homes. “Wrought iron is for everyone who’s got taste,” he says.
